About MeCoral is female, lives in Poole, and is older than she acts. Star Trekkin'
Coral became addicted to Star Trek on November 30th, 1997, at approximately 7:05pm. Since then she has collected over 400 episodes and movies on tape, and over 100 books, both fiction and non-fiction, and enough posters to cover her bedroom walls and ceiling with many left over. Her favourite series was Voyager, although she now has to put up with watching Enterprise each week as a poor substitute. She has gone to several conventions and owns two uniforms, and was heavily involved in Voyager Virtual Season 8. The Rhythm Of A Gentle IM Session
Coral's family got their first Internet-enabled computer in the winter of 1998. By summer 1999, she was reading fanfic and starting to learn basic HTML. By spring 2000, the phone bills were so bad that her parents finally conceded and got a flat rate connection. About two months later came the second phone line as she discovered Instant Messaging and IRC. Things only got worse from there, after founding JCUKjnr and also the #JetCJr undernet channel. In Real Life
After the creation of JCUKjnr, it was probably inevitable that Real Life meetups would start happening. The first of these was with a sister of an online friend, in July 2000. The next was the infamous first JCUK/JCUKjnr meetup in Southampton, then various others followed, including the Birthday Sleepover in April 2001, and the New Year Sleepover of 2001/2002. She has attended two conventions with online friends as well, and has visited America three times to meet others. She was pleasantly surprised to find that an online friend lived only 15 minutes away from her, and has spent a lot of time since pestering the poor woman. All Work And No Play...
Coral is a Supervisor with delusions of grandeur who works for her local Alldays and enjoys it far more than she ought to, especially the shelf stacking and cleaning. Yeah, she's odd all right; even the armed robbery she was present for didn't put her off. When people ask her, she says she is going to be a train driver or something to do with railways, but who knows? She is supposed to be looking for more part time or full time work in addition to her position at Alldays, but is inherently unemployable. And lazy. And hates application forms... Fiction Gives Us The Second Chance That Life Denies Us
Coral is an avid 'shipper, despite claiming not to have a romantic bone in her body. Her primary couple is Janeway/Chakotay, but she can be seen waving banners for everything from Picard/Crusher to Tuvok/Neelix to Pike/1 to Reed/Sato. She writes fic badly, and sticks all the finished ones online, although the unfinished and the half baked ideas are far more numerous. She only has three copies of Resolutions on video, and only two of those are in English. She founded the JCUKjnr group for under-eighteen J/Cers living in the UK and Ireland and once came 3rd in one of the ASC award categories. We Don't Need No Education
Despite attending a Grammar School for girls, Coral did pathetically in her A-Levels and couldn't be bothered to go to University. The only thing that got her through Sixth Form, in fact, was Annie S, an alien called DT and the ensuing hilarity, which she still misses at times. She is rather amused by the amount of homework she never did, and looks back on A-Level Physics lessons with particular fondness, although in reality she hated physics. Trainspotting
Coral never claimed to be normal -- in fact, she cannot think of a more horrific insult. In her attempt to reach new heights of sadness, she is addicted to trains (and, to a lesser degree, transport in general) and enjoys nothing more than spending all day going around the London Underground. Central Slam Door Stock has been known to move her to tears, and she can spend hours playing with Transport Tycoon Deluxe or with her Tomy Train Set. She forever rues the day her PUMV chucked out the Hornby Train Set... because she was a girl. Her ultimate goal in life is to drive a train. I Say A Little Prayer For You
Coral sings with the choir at her local Church of England church, St Paul's, and was confirmed over a decade ago at rather an early age, whilst still living in Germany. She has been attending St Paul's since 1995, a scarily long time, all things considered, although her family had a brief flirtation with the local United Reformed Church before that - not an experience she cares to dwell on or repeat if she can possibly avoid it. |
